We’ve been visiting the Northwest Highlands since our honeymoon in 2008. We were staying in Beauly back then but spent much of our time heading further north. This is when we fell for the dramatic landscape which Sutherland and the surrounding areas have to offer. From then on, we have taken the long drive from Cambridgeshire two or three times a year, sometimes just for the weekend. We recommend you stay longer!
Whether geology is your thing or not, you can’t help but be in awe of the beautiful rock formations you see wherever you look. If you are a keen walker you can climb any number of mountains in the area.
If you are not, you can simply enjoy the view, take a lower level coastal walk or even enjoy the beach.
The pictures you see on our website have been taken by us on our many visits. Admittedly, the weather is not always so kind but it is constantly changing and always photogenic. Mark Twain famously said “If you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes”. Apparently he was referring to New England but he could easily have been talking about this part of Scotland.
We have been hoping to make this area our home for a long time and in 2016 we found ourselves taking an unplanned stay with the previous owners of the guest house, Ken and Madeline. The rest, as they say, is history.
Having re-opened in June 2017, we are now following in their footsteps and about to embark on our second season. Whatever your reasons for staying in the area, be it the geology, walking, cycling, fishing, motoring or motorcycling, come and see what we've been doing over the winter. We look forward to welcoming you.
